Housing Configuration:

Health Services:
FCI Butner Medium 2 offers both routine and emergency health care and dental
care services.  Inmates in need of
routine care should report to the Medical Services Department between the hours
of 6:45 AM and 7:15 AM, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday to sign up for
sick call.  Inmates will either be
treated during the sick call time or placed on call-out to come back and be
treated at a later date.

If an inmate at FCI Butner Medium 2 is experiencing a
medical emergency, they are advised to locate the nearest staff member and to
request for health services to be immediately contacted.  Medical staff are available 24 hours a day in
order to respond to such medical emergencies.

Psychology Services:
The FCI Butner Medium 2 Psychology Department offers both individual therapy
and group treatment options.  On the
group side, inmates can participate in anger management, stress management,
Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), the Drug Education
Program, the Non-Residential Drug Abuse Program (NR-DAP), and other program.

FCI Butner Medium 2 also has a fully staffed Mental Health
Hospital with full-time psychiatrists who are medical doctors and can be seen
by appointment after referral by a psychologist.

Abuse Program (RDAP
): FCI Butner Medium 2 does not house a Residential Drug
Abuse Program (RDAP).

Education Services:
The FCI Butner Medium 2 Education Department offers GED, English-as-a-Second
Language (ESL), Adult Continuing Education (ACE), Parenting, and college
correspondence courses.  The Vance
Granville Community College facilitates the college correspondence
courses.  Inmates interested in any of
these programs are advised to contact the Education Department to learn about
specific program offerings.

Advanced Occupational
Education
: FCI Butner Medium 2 offers Electrical, Building Trades, and
Office Systems Technologies advanced occupational education programs.  All advanced occupational education programs
are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools, run 12
months, require students to either possess a GED or high school diploma prior
to enrollment, and result in a certificate being issued from the Vance
Granville Community College upon program completion.

Vocational Training:
FCI Butner Medium 2 does not offer any vocational training programs.

Apprenticeship:
FCI Butner Medium 2 does not offer any apprenticeship programs.

Library Services:
FCI Butner Medium 2 houses both a Leisure Library and a Law Library.  The Law Library houses TRULINCS computer
terminals where inmates can research Federal Bureau of Prisons policy, federal
case law, federal regulations, and a number of other facets of the law.  All of these services are free for inmates to
utilize.  An inmate law library clerk is
available for assistance with legal research and a copier is available for
inmate use.

The Leisure Library at FCI Butner Medium 2 houses books
(fiction and nonfiction), magazines, and newspapers for inmates to check
out.  An inter-library loan program is
also in effect for interested inmates to request specific titles from local
libraries.

UNICOR: The FCI
Butner Medium 2 UNICOR facility produces clothing, textiles, and industrial
products, and handles fleet management and vehicular components.  It employs 422 incarcerated UNICOR
workers.  This number includes totals for
all Butner, NC UNICOR facilities.

Commissary:
Inmates at FCI Butner Medium 2 are allowed to shop in the institutional
commissary once a week on a designated shopping day.  Inmates can spend up to $320 on supplies from
the commissary including food, clothing, cosmetics, postage stamps, copy cards,
shoes, over-the-counter medications, electronics, photo tickets, and more.  Copy cards, postage stamps, and select
over-the-counter medications are spending limit exempt.

Recreation Services:
FCI Butner Medium 2 offers a number of recreational opportunities.  These include both indoor and outdoor
services.  Indoors inmates can
participate in the arts and crafts program, drawing, painting, exercise, the
music program, and health education programming.  Outdoors inmates will find a track,
individualized sports, and team sports.

Visitation
Information
: Inmates at FCI Butner Medium 2 are allowed to receive visitors
on Monday and Thursday from 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM and on Friday, Saturday, Sunday,
and federal holidays from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
Visitation is based upon a point system where inmates are awarded 16
points each month.  Whenever they have a
visit, a specific number of visitation points are deducted from this
total.  Weekend and holiday visits incur
a 4 point deduction, while weekday visits incur a 1 point deduction.

Inmates at FCI Butner Medium 2 are allowed a maximum of 3
adult visitors at any one time.  Adult
visitors are deemed to be 16 years or older.
There is no limit on the number of child visitors.  All adult visitors must be on the inmate’s
approved visitation list and must present a valid photo ID in order to gain
admittance to the institution.

Driving directions from Durham to FCI Butner Medium 2: Take Interstate 85 to
Exit 189.  Turn left onto Central
Avenue.  Proceed Straight on Central
Avenue to Veazey Street.  Turn right onto
Veazey Street.  Proceed to stop sign and
at the stop sign turn left onto Old Highway 75.
Proceed 1 mile and FCI Butner Medium 2 will be on the right.

Driving directions from Raleigh to FCI Butner Medium 2: Take
U.S. 70 West to the U.S. 70 bypass.  Take
the bypass for 2.1 miles to Geer Street Exit (185 North sign).  Turn right on Geer Street and proceed 1.7
miles to Club Boulevard.  Turn left on
Club Boulevard and proceed .3 miles to Interstate 85 ramp.  Take Interstate 85 North 9 miles to Exit
189.  Turn left on Central Avenue.  Proceed straight on Central Avenue to Veazey
Street.  Turn right onto Veazey
Street.  Proceed to stop sign and at the
stop sign turn left onto Old Highway 75.
Proceed 1 miles to FCI Butner Medium 2.
